It all started back in the early 1980's at the local skating rink. Two young girls, one red headed and one blond, stepped up to the small cashiers window and handed over their allowance monies. Matching metal skate cases in hand the girls took deep breaths and entered into the noise of teenagers and children on a Saturday in Michigan. It was dark and cool with lights flashing from the DJ booth as the girls found a spot to sit down. They raced to change out of their street shoes then lock them in their skate cases and change into their white lace up boots with red wheels. The girls took one look around the busy area before looking each other in their aqua blue mascara eyes, nodding and heading as fast as they could to the blue skating floor illuminated by the spinning disco ball above.
Boeing blasted from the speakers as both girls grabbed hands, pushed off with their toe stops and let loose huge toothless grins, blond and red hair flying behind them.

People, lights, music, heaven! What better a place to be on a Saturday? Fast skate. Backwards Skate. Couples Skate. Scooter Skate. Limbo Contest. The Hokey Pokey! The skating rink was the place to be on the weekends, no matter what the weather outside, it was always "cool" inside. Ahh, the 80's.
