Newbies

Our Newbies this year are so lucky, if they only knew!

The snow (which in 1982 dumped ten feet in two days in the beginning of January) is still not here. The streets are clear, the temperature crisp and the skate park is beckoning my name. Yesterday, I met up with a transfer derby girl whom I adore (Ms. Bah Bah Bruiser) and also a newbie (name yet to be determined) and worked on skills that the newbies will need to pass for their minimum skills. Of course, I videoed and tried to get as much newbie worthy footage as possible. Tomorrow, I am asking all girlies who want to work on their minimum skills to meet at the track at noon. The more they get to practice, the sooner they can start to scrimmage, and, in my opinion, that is where the real learning takes place. I can't wait to see all the new skaters plow stopping with noise!

Let's go newbies!

As always!

Youtube # 12

Skating until it snows is now officially continuing into 2012.

Yesterday's video footage was cut short and the theme of the skate session changed very early into our rolling to the ice skating pond.

I was a Girl Scout, I know better than to leave the house unprepared; live and learn.

DAY SKATE AT THE LAKE

A DAY IN DECEMBER

Log: Still no snow

"Let's Go Skate"

Hand made beanie cap, no helmet - skating alone.
I do not advocate lack of protection to your head, especially while skating by yourself. Skate at your own risk.

"Wook at the wake!" - translation - "Look at the lake"

Roller Skate Circle

Still on the borrowed skates!

Wish you all were here to skate with me too!

Whatever you do, please don't feed the geese...oh wait, it's December, they all flew SOUTH FOR THE WINTER!

So I will just sit back and chill...

...and enjoy the beauty around me...

.. chillaxin' the day away...

...And what a day it is...

She had wheels on her feet

I seen a girl on a one-way corridor
Stealin' down a wrong-way street
For all the world like an urban toreador
She had wheels on her feet - on her feet
Well the cars do the usual dances
Same old cruise and the curbside crawl
But the rollergirl - she's takin' chances
Just love to see her take them on

No fears, alone at night - she's sailing through the crowd
In her ears the phones are tight and the music's playin' loud

Hallelujah - here she comes - Queen Roller Ball
Enchante - what can I say? Carry on
You know she used to have to wait around
She used to be the lonely one
But now that she been skatin' around town
She's the only one

No fears, alone at night - she's sailing through the crowd
In her ears the phones are tight and the music's playin' loud

She gets rock n roll, from the rock n roll station
In a rock n roll dream
She's making movies on location
She don't know what it means
And the music make her wanna be the story
And the story was whatever was the song - what it was
Rollergirl - don't worry
DJ play the movies - all night long

She tortures taxi drivers just for fun
She like to read their lips
Says: "Toro, toro, taxi - see 'ya tomorrow my son - "
She just let a big truck graze her hip
She got her own world in the city - yeah!
Ain't that true - Lord I know -
She got her own world in the city
The city's bein' so... rude to her

Slippin' and a-slidin'
Yeah, life's a roller ball
Slippin' and a-slidin'
Skateaway - that's all
Skateaway
Shala shalay, hey hey, skateaway
She's singin' shala shalay, hey hey
Skateaway
