Good morning all! I posted a link to the facebook page for Muttpuppy's Putting On My Big Girl Panties. 

I have started a group at the President's Fitness Challenge site and am inviting everyone who would like to join up and get a little bit more fit. There are many different activities, including skating, snow shoveling, weight training, gardening, etc. The challenge is to do something five days out of the week for at least 30 minutes, and add one nutritional goal each week; for eight weeks. My groups name is Muttpuppy's Presidents Challenge Group and the group number is 939118. No age requirements, all shapes and sizes welcome!

Walla Walla Roller Derby Wine Bottles

I answered my home phone the other day thinking that it would be for my boyfriend, but the voice on the other end said that they wanted to talk to me, little old me. It was a good friend and former roommate that lived with my man and me in BEAUTIFUL wonderful Idaho. He (our former roommate) is now a winemaker in Walla Walla, Washington; the mecca of fabulous wine country. For those of you who think great wine only comes from California, we shall have to have a little chat. 

The conversation went a little like this...

 FORMER ROOMMATE/WINEMAKER

"Hey, you love roller derby"

MUTTPUPPY

"Yes, yes I do actually"

 FORMER ROOMMATE/WINEMAKER

 

"Cool. I have some chicks who are making roller derby themed wine in Walla Walla and want to get it into the hands of derby girls outside of Washington. Can I send you a bunch of the wine to try?"

MUTTPUPPY

"Um, do you even have to ask? I LOVE PACIFIC NORTHWEST WINE and, I love roller derby"

 FORMER ROOMMATE/WINEMAKER

"Cool, Cool. I will let them know and get it in the mail"

MUTTPUPPY

"Can I sweeten the deal and ask for a promo shirt? 
It can be handmade if needed. I will wear it to practice."

 FORMER ROOMMATE/WINEMAKER

"You want a shirt?"

MUTTPUPPY

"You don't get it, but the girls will totally. 
Yes, tell them to send me a shirt!"

"What's your derby name?"

Once I get the wine in the mail I will be doing a wine tasting with my girls at my house and reviewing it here at Muttpuppy's Putting On My Big Girl Panties. I can't wait to try out what these derby girls from north of me are concocting. Follow along as I introduce you to new and exciting wine from derby girls! There is no stopping what a skater can do once her mind is set to achieve it. Happy day to everyone.

Hey there world wide webbers! Happy February to all of you virtual surfers. I have been busy once again working on projects and getting life in order before bouting season takes hold of me and  tightly refuses to release her grip! I have been enjoying season 2012 and hope that all of you are giving your 100% as well. 

February 18th brings Presidents Day and also PRESIDENTS DAY SCRIMMAGE where I will be skating my little (or not so little, lol) tush off with lots of rad girls. There are also many bouts that day as well across the nation - I look forward to hearing how every one does. Can not wait to SKATE SKATE SKATE!

My week in a nutshell (help! I'm trapped in a nutshell)

1. WED - Skated hard in the streets
2. THUR - Skated hard in the streets
3. FRI - Practice with the team
4. SAT - Skated hard in the streets
5. SUN - Practice with the team
6. MON - Skated hard in the streets
7. TUE - Skated hard in the streets
8. WED - Practice with the team

Let's see. Sunday night I washed my pads. Monday morning, my man bought me new ceramic bearings. Monday afternoon, I posted on facebook "something wonderful is afoot, I can feel it!" Monday night I polished my skates, washed and rotated my wheels and put in my sick new bearings (thanks hun). Tuesday morning at work, I miss a call. I text back - asking coach "you rang?". Coach calls back, with the news. I AM BOUTING CHICO THIS SATURDAY!!!!!!! Top 14 players for this bout has my name on it! I am beyond excited. I think I will get nervous, but for now, I am just so excited to go hit some ladies I can't even tell you how much. I never would have come this far so fast if it hadn't been for all the great ladies that I skate with, my captain and co-captain, my coach, and of course, me! Derby practice is such a great outlet, now lets see if bouting is too! Wish me luck on Saturday!

The art of being a lady. Ladies dress for themselves as well as their moods. Some ladies dress in wild clothes and bright colors to appear more happy. Some ladies shorten their skirt to attract more attention. Some ladies, shorten their skirts cause they have amazing legs and better be showing them. Some ladies, dress for derby. Some ladies, like myself, dress their nails. When I was readying myself for my New Years in Vegas, I did something I usually do myself. I got my nails done. I didn't just get them polished, I purchased a full set of gels...thus setting in motion bi-weekly trips to the salon for upkeep. Now I am caught in a vicious cycle of fills and polish changes that take up time and money. Due to the fact that I really don't have too much of either (money or time) right now, I opted to extend my fill(s) with a brand new product available for less than $8.00 to help camouflage my nail beds. I think that I have just become one of those ladies that dresses for attention without shortening my skirt.

Less than two days until eight of my teammates leave for our three day roller derby clinic! EXCITED!
